RE: HA Doorbell

I use a (free) app called Slawdog Smart Shutdown Classic to close the
PC
down.  I think I found it on download.com, it's worked perfectly for a
couple of months, and it's handy to install on the Media Centre PC which I
only ever remote-desktop into, but that's makes it tricky to do a remote
reboot.

For powerup, I just use the XP task scheduler, I just set it to launch
Explorer each day at 0600.
