Just the sensors (door, PIR, etc)& keyfobs transmit RF. Sensors appear
to
send a 'normal' heatbeat every so often, that includes battery level info.

I did have the alarm panel/console configured to transmit X10 via XM10U so
I
could get alarm state from the panel into homeseer, but did not like the
solution due to the number of devices involved, and latency of X10:

PIR/keyfob -> Panel -> XM10U -> X10 -> CM12 -> Homeseer

The rfxcom solution is now a lot simpler, I get the state of the panel
mirrored in homeseer, from the keyfobs

PIR/keyfob -> Panel
PIR/keyfob -> RFXCOM -> Homeseer
