RE: [OT] ADSL Max
I am, with Nildram, but so far it's a complete nightmare. Apparently
during
the first 10 days BT analyses the line and tried to determine the optimum
set up (smell anything yet?). What this means, in reality, is loss of
service, every night from 1830-early hours, and flaky service during the
day. Had they of warned me about this I'd have never moved over, I do half
my work at night (fortunately there's a local unsecured router for
'emergency' access).
Today is day 9, so from Friday it should be more reliable, though I'm yet
to
be convinced. This is my first hiccup with Nildram, but they've handled it
very badly (they also terminated my account 'accidentally' over the
weekend,
which took another 10 hours to fix).
I was on 1Mb, currently it's 3712 Kbps downstream, 448 up.

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] [OT] ADSL Max
Any ADSL Max users out there yet?
I had my office changed (Eclipse Internet) and am happy with the results -
only 3.5Mb downstream on this particular connection but it is still cheaper
than the old 2Mb business rate previously charged so faster/cheaper than
before.
I'm particularly interested in the results from anyone on list who had a
512K or 1Mb service before due to their distance from the exchange. At home
I have a 1Mb service and although my SNR is good my line attenuation is
sitting in the mid 50's. I'm wondering if I will get any improvement by
changing over to ADSL Max. It's a few quid a month extra compared to the
fixed service I'm on just now so financially only worthwhile if I do see a
speed increase.
