x10 wireless question

Hi,
due to time lag native to x10 (wireless -> tranceiver -> over the
powerline -> decoding in pc interface -> rs232 to pc -> run the
script -
> execute commands and wait for the lights to come on) I am
investigatin to invest in a rs232 receiver that plugs directly into the
pc driving homeseer.
Any specific things I should take into account, what will the time lag
difference be ?? I am hoping to gain 1 to 2 seconds, is that
realistic ??
