It doesn't have any software - plug it in - recognised as USB mass storage
(like any USB pen drive) and you dump files to it. Simple as that. I

that means linux will talk to it.
You cannot use it while connected over usb - once disconnected it goes over
the files you have uploaded and reverts to display mode.
As far as costing a mortgage - I can't believe how cheap this is given the
size of the screen, the inbuilt memory and the quality of the product.
