My LaCie 250Gb USB2 external drive used to spin down after a period of
inactivity when connected to my Mac Mini, but the same drive does nothing
of
the sort now it's connected to Windows.

Tony in an earlier post alludes to the fact the windows doesn't do
power saving on Firewire drives, and AFAIK USB enclosures don't do
power saving at all...

I could be wrong (I've been wrong before) (once ;)
