You probably need to ask the question on the 'other' yahoo list

As an indication it is a little cheaper than above ground, but not much
and depends on many things, ground conditions, construction methods and
level of finish...
I have to admit to being a great fan of basements though, ideal location
for a Node 0...

I know this is off-topic but does anyone have any knowledge as to the
additional cost a basement would add to a new build house? The size of
the proposed house is 40 feet by 30 feet.
