A type of digital cordless phone. You plug a basestation into the mains
and your phone socket, and the phone either sits in the basestation or
in a charger which can be plugged into the mains anywhere in your house
(or both - you can usually use up to 6 phones with one basestation).
Most support one internal (between handsets) and one external call
simultaneously.

Better range than a wifi AP I expect...
