CAT7 and CAT8 Cable

The biggest advantage of the CAT7 and 8 cables are not for data but
for the additional options that is offers.

One problem is that the Cat7 infrastructure has only just been
ratified by the TIA and as such has only now being to be adopted by
the business sector. So Cat8 is a while away. However the cable
termination is NOT RJ45. It is prepriatory.

Currently, these cables offer no great increase in terms of data
speeds, mainly because the hardware doesn't exsist. The big advantage
is that both these cables pass UHF frequencies.

This means that we can pass the full band of tv channels down the
cable without the need for central electronic hardware. The only
problem is that the Cat7 cable is almost =A3200 RRP for 500 meters and
=A36.00 per wideband RJ45 connector. Oh and the connectors take about
10mins each to fit!!!

This makes it almost as expencive as running Cat5e and using say a
Nexus (AV Nex) or a say the (soon to arrive?) KAT5 switcher.

I am away for the next couple of days, but happy to give more info
when I am back. Oh and my article on this months Hiddenwires may help
as well.
