Cat8 cable?

Evening,

Having a look over the hidden wires website today and noticed this;
http://www.hiddenwires.co.uk/resourcesarticles2005/articles20050905-03.h
tml

And a paragraph:
CAT8 residential networking is now cost-effective enough for architects,
developers and self-builders to consider its inclusion into even the
most modest of new build homes or renovation projects, with
off-the-shelf network packs available from at least one manufacturer for
those on a tight budget. When you look at the cost of CAT8 cabling, it
would only take up a tiny fraction of the total build cost for the home.
For more prestigious developments, CAT8 multimedia cabling will
compliment, enhance and lift structured wiring installations such as
KNX/EIB to totally new levels, allowing almost complete interaction with
the home.
So, what are your thoughts on this? Is cat5 'old hat' now? being an IT
bod I can see cat8 having a use in high speed data, but with ca5 being
used for gigabit networking, such as streaming dvd's to a mediacenter
etc, do we need to look at cat8 or is this more industry hype?

I know there's a wealth of info on this forum. So comment / thoughts
please!

Jonathan.
