Re: homevision and cbus

Hi Leslie,

Have a scan down this page.... - the idea's there but the
products aren't quite (yet)

http://www.ukusa.net

re the 'macro' only solution - I still haven't as yet got the ok
from Clipsal to release them :-( and as I have moved away from using
HomeVision as my main controller I didn't complete the hardware
controller project. However I am thinking I will be able to revisit this
soon ...as I've got a few 'requests' for the product. The hardware is
done but the software isn't. You could also achieve similar using
either xAP or xPL (for free) but you would require a PC running 24/7.
The xPL solution uses C-Gate.

On a more positive note the latest HV ROM's have a custom lighting
capability inbuilt (indeed my macros use that) and if you peruse
Clipsals site you can 'sign up' to a public release version of their
C-Bus protocol - using this info you can actually control C-Bus lights
directly from HomeVision attached via a serial port to the C-Bus RS232
module & using the custom lighting feature. You can't publish the
macros
though due to Clipsals weird licencing restrictions, although if 'end
users' sign up to the licence they could use the macros.. My macros
actually use the full blown C-Bus protocol so they offer a slightly
fuller integration including full status/synching. I will chase Clipsal
again about the 'permission' to release these, their concern was reverse
engineering of their protocol once in the HV domain.
