LCD TV choice

Hey peeps, - SWMBO has agreed to a TV upgrade for the bedroom, so I'm in
th=
e process of choosing a nice shiny new hi-Def LCD panel.. :-)
=20
Current favorite is the Toshiba 32WL56, which I can get for around =A3840
a=
ll inclusive.... just wondered if anyone has one of these and has any
thoug=
hts, or indeed has any other HD LCD panel that you might care to
recommend.=
or not..
=20
Note that I have a couple of very specific requirements which are dictated
=
by the location for the set..
=20
- It cannot be wider than 92cm - there is absolutely no flexibility in
this=
. The aperture is this wide and it cannot be modified.
=20
- The height should ideally be 63cm or less, - although I do have some
flex=
ibility with this measurement, albeit requiring a bit of simple DIY..
=20
The above measurements dictate a panel size of no more than 32" (81cm)
- th=
is leaves a bit of leeway for the extra cabinetry/speakers at the sides of
=
the screen, - but not much, so this would tend to favour sets with the
spea=
ker(s) along the bottom of the screen. - I would prefer to go no smaller
th=
an 32" (although if I did, I would have a great deal more choice) as I
am u=
pgrading from a 28" 4:3 set, so the perceived screen size needs to
look at =
least as big as the old set. (The viewing position is about 10 feet away,
s=
o too small a screen would be a PITA).
=20
- It must (obviously) have a HDMI port (otherwise it can't really be
called=
HD ready), but I also definately want a dedicated PC input as well, - eith=
er DSUB or DVI, don't care which. - I know that in theory I could use the
H=
DMI port with a HDMI-DVI adapter cable, but I'd prefer not to have to. - I
=
do intend to connect a MCE PC to it full-time... (thus bringing this post
v=
aguely back on-topic!)
=20
- It must have at least 1 SCART input, and that must support RGB in
=20
- It must be logo certified "HD Ready" - ie meet all the EICTS
requirements=
- I'd prefer a HDMI port over a HDCP-compliant DVI port, - makes future ca=
bling simpler...
=20
- This is, lets remember, a 2nd set for the bedroom, so it needs to be
sens=
ibly priced! - which in this instance I define as preferably under a
grand.=
.. - although I could be persuaded to be flexible with that, if presented
w=
ith a good enough B... B... B... Bargain!
=20
Any suggestions?
=20
TIA
=20
Paul G.
