RE: Where to start?
I wouldn't personally go Linux for the HA controller simply because there
is far more HA software for Windows and therefore choice. I do have a Linux
box that runs my Asterisk telephone switchboard though.
Re the CCTV - I (and a number of others here) have a Geovision CCTV system.
This is a specialised multi source capture card (many options available)
and software. Very powerful and has a huge number of features/options.
