Dean - you can use my  xAP C-Bus gateway (as a standalone embedded
solution to access C-Bus via Ethernet) ) and use HomeSeer as the
logic/script engine.  There is a free xAP plugin for HomeSeer and a low
cost ML plugin for the realtime link to MainLobby.   Not quite as low
cost as your IR solution though.
