Adrian,

I'm not an electrician so can't say if there's anything in the Regs for
sure, but common sense might suggest that you try to look for another
location, or provide adequate protection over/around the frame. A couple
of years ago a work colleague's house flooded when the attic tank ball
cock jammed open. The overflow pipe had been broken by a previous
workmen installing new fascia boards so when he flushed the loo just
before leaving the house for a two week holiday, the water entering the
loft tank had nowhere to go but over the top of the tank and down
through the ceilings etc. He was out of the house for months while it
was dried out and re-fitted etc.

All that said, directly underneath my tank is mains wiring going down to
bedroom light switches etc.
