I have a pair of Linksys WAP54G's - fantastic coverage (I can surf from my=
=20
Neighbour's over the road). The 2nd one is set as a repeater and they work=
=20
flawlesslessy - and the laptop seamlessly switches between the two.

I'm running a slightly modded firmware , available from linksysinfo.org,=20
so I can hike up the power output too.

Never missed a beat. It supports MAC restrictions and WPA-PSK
encryption.=20
I think they are about =A340 from ebuyer ?

[ukha_d] Robust Access Point Recomendation?
.
Category:

Does anyone have a recommendation for a rock solid AP.

I have a US Robotics 802.11b unit at the moment (v cheap from=20
ebuyer). I have a suspicion that it drops out for a second or two=20
every minute or so (so Netstumbler seems to indicate). This seems=20
to cause my Dell Axim X30's to lock up when running XLobby.=20

(I only use the wireless network for control not streaming so it=20
doesnt need to be high performance 'b' is fine!).

So if you can recomment a 'value' AP that doesn't 'drop out' (has a=20
nice strong solid green bar in Netstumbler with no interruptions)=20
that would be great.=20

(As an aside, I'm assuming that the current AP appearing to drop a=20
pole every minute or two from Netstumbler is rare/wrong and that=20
most people don't get this. Is this true or do most AP's seem to do=20
this.)

Thanks for this. This locking is proving to be a real pain. Apart=20
from this the setup is really good and if I could get the robustness=20
then it would be perfect!

Thx
