RE: Object Location Tracking
I had a sales guy talk to me about exactly this type of thing a few months
ago...all GPS based I think, so no good for keys. I forget which company
was using it, but it's a popular option for things such as laptops that
have
sensitive information on them. I can pass on his details to you if you
want?

Subject: [ukha_d] Object Location Tracking
hey all,
In my new job my first project is to find a way to track very
expensive tools. Ideally we would like to fit each item with a (small)
device and for a unit/units to be able to be centrally sited and be
able to display each items location.
RFID springs to mind but seems to require passing through a gateway or
quite close to a sensor. Im thinking a RFID/GPS compromise as the
system must be capable of use indoors.
The facility to search for a specific tag and for its location to be
displayed from a choice of multiple sites would be a bonus.
Im thinking that this is relevant to home automation as I'd love to be
able to track stuff in my house too....keys anyone!!
Look forward to your ideas from all you clever people!
All the best
Noel
p.s. have just ordered my harmony 885!! why wait till payday when the
credit card is sitting there unused!! :)
