It arrived today (very fast!) and I've had a five minute play.

On my 1st test of the dimmer, I wondered why my lights didn't come on
but my Powermid receiver was buzzing. Oops! I thought I was sure which
plug was which ... Anyway, everything still seems to work. (phew!)

I know why people go Ir and why there are also RF repeaters. The range
is pretty low, isn't it? It's OK (but not 100%) when in the same room,
step out of the doorway and you don't stand a chance.

My receiver isn't positioned perfectly (near the floor, right next to a
wall, and behind a tubular metal hifi stand!) but this is where sockets
tend to be. :-)
