I use NetRemote and Girder from www.promixis.com.

You can design your own screens for NetRemote, it will run on a PC or
PocketPC. I bought an old touch screen tablet pc that was running Win98,
stuck a wireless card in it an now use it for control, as well as a
wireles=
s
iPaq and MCE remote.

I use girder to communicate with a Linn Unidisk over serial from the PC and
use a USB UIRT to receive commands from MCE IR remote. You have the option
of communicating over IR or serial, so should work with most kit that is
ou=
t
there.

You must always have a PC running Girder and NetRemote so the NetRemote
clients can talk to Girder, but since most of us have some media servers
running then it is not a problem.

Software costs are low, you can get the old PII based touch screen tablets
off ebay quite cheap.

Would also work with the touch screens you can get on ebay, but you would
need them wired to a PC somewhere.

So supposing I couldn't stretch to =A31600 for a 6.4" video
touchscreen
or =A3800 for a non video touchscreen....any other options?

Im thinking there must be a way to use those cheap VGA touchscreens
seen on ebay for =A3100 - =A3200. Im thinking maybe using a website with
big buttons for control or even some sort of nicely displayed pc program?

Could this be done? Could you have more than one touchscreen connected
via USB, just like pluggin a few mice in i guess!

My budget definitely wouldn't cover the xantech screens altho they do
look very nice! some sort of pc control (or mac!!) would be much more
up my street in terms of pricing....interfacing through girder for IR
control maybe?!

Cheers
Noel

OK in very quiet environments but as soon as you add any background
sound (music, TV etc) you can forget it :(
