Ahem- yes, it's a Dual Pole Isolator -

I'll give you a buzz about this extractor Neil tomorrow.

A couple of thoughts here

1) By "Twin MCB", do you mean a two pole MCB or two single pole
MCBs?

If the latter, you need to replace it with a two Pole MCB otherwise you
could end up with the neutral disconnected and the live side still
energised - Not very advisable!

However, this won't have any impact on your tripping problem.

2) Regarding the tripping problem, it sounds as if one or more of your
circuits has an earth or neutral fault.

You can either carry out a process of elimination by turning off
individual circuits until you isolate the faulty one(s) or test the
circuits using a megger.

Testing the circuits would probably be the quickest method although you
need to take care to disconnect electronic components from the circuits
before applying the test voltage (typ 1000V)

Drop me a line if you need to borrow my megger.

One other fault I have recently seen which may have some relevance was a
problem with the capacitor in an extractor fan.

The fan would trip the lighting circuit every time it switched off. It
turned out that the capacitor in the fan unit was faulty and, although
not down to earth, was causing the RCD to trip. Replacing the capacitor
cured the problem.

Cheers
