There is a problem which I understand is an issue with certain firewire
/ USB2 bridgeboard chipsets where they (apparently) don't report back to
windows correctly just how large a chunk of transfer they can take in a
single DMA command. (This is what I understand).

It usually manifests itself as a "Delayed Write Failure" error
and seems
to occur when a DMA transfer of over 128Mb is attempted but apparently
it *ISN'T* a Windows problem.

The same error occurs under Linux but there's a "fix" for it in
that if
you recompile the firewire handlers you can set a flag to limit the max
DMA transfer size and that avoids the problem.

Thing is, I don't know what chipsets it affects and , if you're not
transferring *BIG* files then you should never have it happen ... I only
had it plaguing me because I have several hundred files of between 3 and
8Gb whipping about!

Phil
