It may be too late (that auction has ended) but you might want to be
careful that you are actually getting a chipped xbox, and not one whose
onboard bios has simply been changed.

But, the auction you pointed to did include the DVD playback kit which
is the remote you mention...

After trying a few Digital Media Adaptors, and find the interfaces
rubbish, or their codec support lacking, I'm considering an Xbox.

So, do I just buy a 2nd hand chipped one like this -
