Re: Re: Anyone using a harmony 2 wire X10 dimmer module yet?

Sorry for the delay - I had dismantled that part of the test circuit.

I tested using the following setup:

HDM1 connected to a standard incandescent 60w GLS bulb rather than the
LV or GU10 lamps I had been testing with. X10 codes sent via an all
housecode IR7243AH.

Soft starting and stopping work. I noticed however that when I plugged
in my test system the light came on, even if it was off before. This I
don't remember it doing and would be a major problem if there was a
power cut or the breaker tripped if a bulb blew and you reset it. If the
manufacturers are on this list maybe they could comment. I don't think
it be doing this. I've left the circuit connected (and lamp off) and
will retest this bit later when any backup capacitor has had a chance to
charge.

Dimming the lamp to (say) 10% from either the external source or by
depressing the switch for a while then switching off then back on again
gives you the 10% light level. Further long depressions cycle the
brightness. It remembers what direction you were going when you last
cycled it.

With my ear right up against the bare unit (would look good on the
coroners report) I can just about hear some faint buzzing.

Apart from the power on issue (which I'm ashamed to say I hadn't spotted
when I was testing before) it would be very nice if it sent out on/off
and possibly dim messages so you could use it to switch multiple
circuits together or for a crude occupant detection. Maybe for a version
two.

This evening I'll try one of the other modules and see if I get the
power on/light on problems.

Simon
