The main batch of drives I use have a startup current of 1,900mA (@12v)
each
whereas their read/write" current is 220mA (@12v). The 5v rail
requirements
are less "extreme" - 500mA at startup and 375mA read/write. PC
PSUs don't
tend to be able to handle much in the way of overload for very long at all
... certainly not long enough to spin up a batch of drives.
