In all seriousness, I'd be wary of doing that.  Anyone can buy a camera.
Not everyone can use them.  If your friend does your wedding photos and
does
a crap job, he won't be your friend for long.  I'd rather pay a grand to
someone else to do the photos rather than risk a friendship over it.  Lets
face it, your wedding photos will mean one hell of a lot.  I actually have
paid over a grand for my wedding photographer purely for that reason. 
There
will be some pro and semi-pro photographers at my wedding, but anything
they
shoot will be a bonus.
