May 2005
By David Richards
EXCLUSIVE: Clipsal is set to shake up the digital home market by launching
a
Clipsal branded distributed audio system including speakers, amplifiers and
an 8 zone control system.
Integrated systems group Clipsal is set to enter the distributed audio
market with its own brand of controllers, speakers and amplifiers. The
range
will be launched in September 2005 and shown at the intelligent home show
in
Melbourne in October 2005.
Talking exclusively to SmartHouse Reseller Clipsal Marketing Manager Simon
Wehr said that the new audio control system will come with its own matrix
including 4 input channels and 8 out for 8 different zones. Also being
launched is a range of in ceiling speakers in various materials including
poly carbon and kefler along with a range of external speakers.
Said Wehr "We have the distribution channel spanning electricians and
installers and by delivering a new distributed audio solution we offer them
the opportunity to expand there range of services. This is a high quality
system that eliminates the need for a separate controller in each room. The
speakers will also be of a high quality with a range of both indoor and
outdoor being available when we launch in September. I am confident that we
can not only grow the market for audio distribution but provide the trade
with an additional solution that complements other systems we are selling
for the home ".
The combination of a Clipsal C Bus system the recently launched Clipsal
wireless lighting system and the proposed new distributed audio system
makes
for a powerful product offering that will also appeal to architects
builders
and property developers scoping solution into new buildings.
Len Wallis of Len Wallis Audio said "This product will certainly open
up the
market. Right at the moment we are seeing a lot of new technology
particularly IP based systems. The Clipsal solution is interesting and I
would look at this as a solution. We would have to see the quality and
pricing before we made a decision."
David Small at Audioworks and a CEDIA board member said "Clipsal have
an
excellent distribution network particularly among electricians who have
moved into the home automation market. This is an interesting move that
will
put pressure on a number of vendors in this market".
