I'd take a look at NetRemote - you can create your own interface to
talk to e.g. J River Music Center (probably the best choice), ITunes etc.

Also works with Pocket PCs as well as Win32.
It's very flexible and is supplied with a pre-built interface to talk
to JRMC etc.
