Good Distro on Mini ITX hardware?

Given my previous experiences of trying to get anything penguin running
reliably on Mini-itx hardware (apart from red hat 7.3 which just bounces
along, happy as larry ;)) I'd like some pointers - does anyone have linux
running on Epia C3 Mini ITX kit? (specifically, the C800, rather than the
nehemiah board).

I'm hoping to use it for two main things - a testbed for playing with
asterisk (so it would be nice if it had kernel support for the AVM Fritz
ISDN PCI TA) and for running having a wee play with zoneminder (getting fed
up of the buggy generic BT8x8 driver crashing every other week)

Any good experiences? Anything to specifically avoid? Centos would have
been
my normal choice to play with, but it steadfastly refuses to do anything
other than kernel panic on my MiniITX box!

Ian.
