Check your agreement with your current provider. You may be prevented from
running a website on your line if it's a home service.

Assuming you're allowed to, if your site is low volume, you should be fine
with most normal cable / ADSL speeds, however if volume picks up then be
prepared for slow response.=20

You would also need to have a router capable of running a DMZ so that your
personal PC(s) are secure in the eventuality that your web server PC gets
hacked :(

You also need to remember that your normal use of the line would impact
others wanting to view your site(s), so a 2nd line might be best, however

I did actually consider having a server in the garage with a dedicated

but the costs soon add up making it much more of a luxury than a
requirement.
