You have two options:
1. Reverse proxying.
2. An encrypted tunnel.
I use the latter to collect mail from my home server via IMAP. I've
installed OpenSSH on my W2k server, and use Putty as a client to map port
143 on my laptop to port 143 on my server at home. Outlook connects to the
laptop as if it's a mail server, and I post this as if I'm on my home LAN.
