RE: DNS problems
You probably won't like it, but why not have your 2003 server do the
DNS?
Fail that, look for a firmware update for the router?

Subject: [ukha_d] DNS problems
This is sorta HA related, honest guv. I have a USR router/modem on my
ADSL line, it does DNS, DHCP, and firewall, and has worked perfectly for
the last 9 months with my home network of around 6 - 8 PCs. Installed a
Windows 2003 server a short while back, router now goes titsup at least
once, and sometimes several times a day. When it falls over, I can ping
IP addresses on the 'net, but not www. addresses, so I am assuming that
there is something in the DNS setup on the server that interferes with
the router. So, turned off the AD on the server, and the Microsoft DNS
with it, problem is still there. Disconnect the server from the
network, the router is as solid as a rock - re-connect, and it falls
over again..
USR helpfully thanked me for buying the product, then told me that they
don't support 2003 server. The Microsoft forums all assure me that the
server must be ok, and that I should change the router for another as
its clearly at fault: thanks, Mr Gates, I don't think so. My ISP
(f2s.com) are a lot more helpful, but its still broke. I'm clean out of
ideas..
Any suggestions for a fix? Pretty please??
Martin
