Hmmmm....my wife's got an iTrip for her iPod, and that works fine in both
our cars (both Mercs).  Also had an iRock in the past, and that was pretty
good.  Luckily my current car has a 3.5 aux socket, but otherwise I'd use
an
iTrip every time.  FWIW, the Apple expert also reckoned the iTrip was the
best FM xmitter from all the ones they sold.

I had an iTrip. Recently flogged it on eBay as the radio in my Merc barely
picked up a signal from the darn thing!
Wasn't all that much better on my FM radio at home, hardly audiophile
quality.
