Re: xPL-LCD+Projects

Hi All
Just a little update here........i think i broke every rule in the
Qprox book by not having a good read before using the Qprox
switches...Firstly i was using bare metal for sensing finger touch ...!!!!
bad ...static electricity could cause big problems here suppsoe to sense
via
perpex type stuff ...also had sensor wires sheilded !!..and not although
not
very long ...long enough to cause issues.....Also as Ian B mentioned the
leds should be decoupled if near the sensing area.....

Have now mounted the Qprox chips closer to the sensors , removed the metal
barrels for sensing and screened cable and have now got it sensing with so
false triggers...also used modified led pipes so i could relocate the leds
away from the sensor area.......

Also it has been pointed out to me that the PLED LCD should not be led on
24/7 as it causes burn in like a vfd and reduces the life of the PLED LCD
....so i display the time very minute but clear the display after 10
seconds.........

Must say im quite impressed with the Qprox switches .....A nice facia place
can be designed for projects with no ugly buttons present..........

Speaking of projects im starting to think what next !!!........I have some
id12 rfid readers and this could be next although im not sure what use they
can be around the home ...any ideas ??
They have a sensing range of about 100mm max ..............

Also my vacany probe is working quite well .....Havent heard anyone scream
about the lites in the lounge going out and i never seem to see them being
left on......;-))

Frank
