[OT] DVD copying & editing

Having had a number of DVD's ruined by DS - not even DiskDoctor could
salvage them :-(  I came across DVD Decrypter which has allowed me to make
create backups for day to day use and therefore not risk the original disks
getting damaged but I have had a few problems. Single layer DVD+R's play
fine in all of my DVD players, but the dual layer DVD+R's are a different
story. Most will not play on any of my consumer DVD players, some will but
struggle with major pixilation etc as the drive struggles to read the info.
I either need to find dual layer discs that are readable in my players or
find a utility that will allow me to strip out all of the unwanted
soundtracks and bonus material to leave just the movie and main soundtrack
so it will more than likely fit onto a single layer disc.

Can anyone give me any pointers?
