First time I saw it. Its still interesting though even if its an "old
product". There are plenty of other posts on this mailing list about
other "old products" and most of them are still interesting at
least to me.

I'm sure there will be. An open solution like this makes it easy for
programmers like me to add fun things to it.

The student edition is just fine. The optimizer is left out in it after
60 days wish will result in slightly bigger code. Not a problem for most
"hobby" solutions. (FWIW Installing the compiler again gives you
an
additional 60 days). The code is there and works for Hi-tech and it
would not be a big problem to port it to CCS or some other compiler
environment.

Apart from the firmware they are very similar. The modular design of
this thing  makes it far more interesting for me then the webbrick. But
sure this is just my (humble) oinion.  I have nothing against the
webbrick. It's a fine piece of hardware to. But I personally choose this
unit. Other may do how the please.
