Clipsal programming

Once the clipsal bus is programmed then is the pc interface used?
(Ignoring external computerised control)
Is it totally non-volatile? Or do you need to reprogram it.
I'm looking at a simple 4 way Aux input module, a 4 way dimmer + 1 pir
setup, so having the pc interface seems overkill.
If it isn't required permanently then is there anyone who could loan me
one for a week...or better still if near SE London pop over and help
set it up in exchange for beer or cash or both!!
