RE: Re: Dynalite

Fantastic to have found you! I have a few questions that I'd like to get
answers to before I commit myself to DynaLite rather than c-bus. I will try
to contact you off-list...

Interesting that you mention work on a xAP connector - let's pool our
knowledge. I've put many, many hours into the development of the BSC
version
of the xAP X10 connector (on www.erspearson.com) and much of this was with
a
view to making it easy to port to Dynalite. Right now I lack enough
information on the protocol to do this. Hopefully soon xAP will have full
interoperability between X-10, c-bus and Dynalite!

Edward,

Frank is not wrong when he says that the number of people on this
group that are Dynalite users are few and far between.... infact I'm
not sure I know of any .... other than I!!!! :-)

Coming from a AV install background, and being a member of UKHA for
some xx years I think Dynalite has gotten probably 3 mentions! Part
of the problem has been the commercial side of Dynalite,
traditionally they were very protective of their product and only
sold through approved dealers, then the whole ilight/Dynalite fiasco
only served to muddy the waters (try www.dynalite.co.uk). BUT.. the
product works, its reliable, they now have 'cbus' style Din units,
some cool new button panels, but as a company they are still wrapped
up in AV/Architect Dealers and there isn't a UK internet shop seller,
so we are forced to buy through a dealer who the majority are not
interested in box sales. Dynalite Uk (Dimtek) argue that its about
protecting the support/dealer, and I suppose I should agree, you can
do some damage with the wrong codes on the bus!

Anyway enough of my rants... I love the product, I have over 40
channels (self installed) in my house, an Ethernet gateway, HV
gateway... and if I finish the code a XAP gateway too.

Any questions either ask here or work out what my real email should
be from this.
