Fido as in the dialup networked BBS systems in the mid to late 80's ?
Now that does take me back... the days when you could dial the USA at 2400
and brag about it as most people were still on 300 or 1200/75 :) What was
even better was that we convinced our employer that having a BBS (including
networking the PC's to have a multi-line BBS) was actually a good extension
to the telephone & letter support capabilities of customer service dept
(well we did get a few tech support questions, but we learned a hell of a
lot about comms)
