Maplin used to do an inline Lightning surge arrestor for ariels, but I
can't see it in the current catalogue. :

It was basically two UHF sockets with a screw terminal for attaching an
earth wire to - I would have thought given the tendency for ever more
draconian earth bonding/wiring safety rules that these things would be
mandatory by now!

A UPS protects equipment from lightning strikes on the mains.
Some have sockets to plug the modem / telephone line in but I'm not so
sure how good they are against lightning.
As for strikes to TV aerials.....  I haven't got an answer for that.
