Personally I don't have an issue with OT posts, although as Mark says there
are some who abuse this list which luckily is generally rare. For my 2p's
worth the thing that annoys me is those who use this list to plug their
companies within a thread (Or at every flippin opportunity!) without
following the rules regarding [adverts]. But hey, this is just my opinion
and I can go with the flow, I've got other things to worry about.

As far as forums are concerned I just do not have the time to read in that
format. Email is fast to read, fast to filter and fast to reply.

My car enthusiast's list which has run successfully for many years
recently switched to forum format, and it has pretty effectively killed
it stone dead. The people with all the real knowledge were'nt
interested in hanging out in the forum, I and others find it hard to
wade through and find the bits of interest, and it quickly became
populated with air-headed muppets. Could be the way in which its been
implemented, but its much more time-consuming than a '80s technology
list format. For me, ( and lots of others) I don't have a lot of time,
and its easy to skim through the list and read the bits I like and dump
the rest.

I like the laid back style and content of this list, OT posts and all,
even though I don't have much to contribute.
