POP3 ?
If so run up telnet on your PC (ensuring local echo is set on)
connect to your PO3 (pop3.my_lovely_ISP.com) account via port 110
Once connected you'll need to autheenticate
user whatever_my_login_is
pass whatever_my_password_is

list - gives details of the messages and sizes
stat - message count and total size
dele n - dletes message n
rset - cancels the dele command - use before you quit

quit - I'll let you guess that one.

Just wondering if you have a monster message stuck at the top of the queue
