Ethernet to serial adaptors as print servers?

I have a small reciept style printer that I would like to put in the
kitchen to
dispense shopping lists and other things like that.

There isnt a PC, and the port on it is serial, not parallel. - Can I just
use a
ethernet to serial like used for home automation as a print server, or
should I
get a proper print server? I am assuming that a USB to RS232 cable in a USB
print server wouldnt work as theres no host OS to set the baud rate etc.

There is always the option of 9 pin to RJ45 adaptors, but I am keen to
avoid
that if possible.
