Well thankfully Elaborate Bytes' (Elby) CloneDVD will pass unaffected as it
doesn't actually bypass any copy protection and will only allow the
manipulation of unprotected DVD data.

Their "companion" application (AnyDVD) is produced by a
subsidiary company
of theirs called SlySoft and that is the program which is going to get them
into trouble if anything as that is the one that does the business of
removing CSS and macrovision etc. :-(

I can well understand companies (such as Sony) wishing to protect their
intellectual property and I'm happy enough for them to do that as long as
they're happy enough to replace any of my kids DVDs that he ends up
scratching that normally I would either make a backup of and let him watch
those (keeping the originals safe in my DVD changer) or would extract to
the
media server and he would watch off there...

(/me rides off into the sunset on a very high horse...)
