Or why it won't work:

To quote:
One of the engineers said NDS can change it[Videoguard encryption] every
week if they want to, and they don't need to re-issue cards. Dragon CAM
engineers said they had no intention of playing cat and mouse with the
NDS system and wouldn't update it.

Subject: [ukha_d] Sky reception on non Sky hardware - Dragon CAM

Just flicking through the freebie 'Digital Satellite Choice' that
came with 'Home Cinema Choice' magazine this month and noticed
this...

'Sky viewers who fancy a change from Sky's Digibox receivers can now
use any common interface receiver with a Dragon CAM. The latest
Predator software for the Dragon CAM enables it to emulate a Sky
Digibox so that your viewing card thinks it's plugged into Sky's
Hardware. Users must already have a Sky Digibox paired with the
viewing card, because the CAM requires you to enter your Sky Digibox
serial number'

I've always associated CAMS with dodgy viewing cards and 'Adult'
television ;-)

A quick search for 'Dragon CAM' did nothing to change my mind, a lot
of websites seemingly created by 14 year old boys selling CAM's and
card programmers with pictures of semi naked ladies !

Now that I've professed I have no idea about this sort of thing,
does anybody have any experience of using CAMS etc ?

I'm thinking that with a Satellite receiver PC card and this CAM,
you should be able to watch and record Sky, in digital, on a PC.
This opens up a whole host of possibilities, including streaming
live feeds over IP and recording (and copying) digital sound and
pictures without a Sky+ box.
