RE: [OT] - ish BT Caller ID now free
I called BT to talk about this. Third department I was sent to (a UK call
=
centre!!) seemed to know what they were talking about. How wrong I was.
Their recommendation - cancel the 'pay for' CallerID, give it a day and
the=
n sign up for the Privacy @ Home package. So, a day later and entering my
=
details on their web site "I'm sorry we cannot process your request.
You h=
ave an outstanding Network Service order on your account. Please come
back=
in one week." Me =3D not happy.
A day later, I call the Privacy @ Home activation number. BT woman yaps
on=
forever about the service and then says "you may already pay for
CallerID.=
By signing up to Privacy @ Home, this service will become free." Why
did=
no one in their call centres know this! Aggghhh....
So, here I am, one week later and still without CallerID. I'm going to
cal=
l them again tonight to try and see what's going on. I don't hold out
much=
hope.

I want to do the same thing, but want to know how best to actually do
it...=
. Was this easy to do? Can you do it via the online account system? Is it
=
best to sign up to Privacy before cancelilng the CallerID package? And am

I likely to suffer any period without service?
Thanks,
Steve
(You would think these were simple questions, but I couldn't get a
straight=
answer out of BT when I asked)
