VOIP options for house integration

Hey!
Have been reading up on asterisk and a few other options, I'm now
wondering what I can achieve and how to go about it.

I use skype regularly and love the quality and ease of use. At the
moment i'm only using it through my ibook which has been perfect.

Having seen their recently announced skypein numbers im looking at how
i could possibly integrate that into my house for normal phone system
distribution?

Is this kind of thing possible or is skype a little to standalone to
make this work? I understand (just about!) that this can be done with
other voip services i.e. someone calls my voip number it comes through
a server and then all the phones in my house rings!!

any opinions or directionss will be great!

thanks
noel
