[OT] Can anyone help me out with my BTEC project?

Hi all,

I know this is MASSIVELY OT but i'm desperate!  I have an essay to
hand in on developing technology for my BTEC level 3 in
Telecommunications (part of my BT apprentiship) - only problem is
the lecturer hasn't given us the information we need to complete the
assignment.

I need to find out the following info:

1) What are the latest developments in:
a) Microwave technology
b) Satellite technology
c) Laser (Free Space Optics)

2) The achievable bitrates, operating distance, performance reducing
factors and bandwidth.  This also needs to include GSm.

If anyone can help me out with this I would be truly grateful.
