heres an interesting thing that happened to me

I updated the memory on my powerbook with another 512mb stick.
It was done at computer warehouse store.

soon after my powerbook had a dvd drive problem unrelated to the memory of
course.
I sent it back. I spoke to the customer service and they told me they have
replaced
the dvd drive but the memory on there showed a fault so they have replaced
it.
When I got my powerbook back sure as hell apple had replaced the memory.

To be honest every PC manufacturer does that ..

Compaq, Dell etc etc.

They always say that the memory should only be installed by a qualified
Apple Tech. On all my Apple laptops they have always said that ..

Doesn't stop me doing it myself, plus there are no warranty stickers that
prevent you from doing so.
