There's an E0 stepping Prescott just round the corner. Apparently (if I
understand it correctly) this has "Enhanced Halt Mode" to reduce
the clock
speed and shut down parts of the processor when idle. This according to
Tom's Hardware actually makes this version of the Prescott worthwhile
(otherwise there's no real advantage over the P4 Northwood - other than
maybe price)
http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041115/index.html
has specific info.
I think my HTPC will be based around a 3.2GHz E0 stepping Prescott - just a
question of when they're available in volume.
