I mean newsgroups .. just to see what is available.

But then I will need a Media centre computer connected to my TV via DVI to
watch the Hi-Def material.

I am in a bit of a dilemma .. LCDs are not cheap, I know the quality can be
good providing the source is good.

I do not watch that many DVDs and I am wondering if a Freeview source is
good enough.

Xbox cannot cope with HiDef material as its processor is not up to the job.
There is some DIVX encoded HiDef that does seem to be OK but most of the
available HiDef stuff is not Divx encoded.

I'm planning on getting a DLP HDTV sometime later in the year when Skys
plans for HDTV are announced along with the timeframes.

In the mean time I've discovered a source of HDTV on the usenet newsgroups
and I'm in the process of downloading various movies and events in HDTV
format to create an Archive for when I get my HDTV DLP TV. The amounts of
data required to support HDTV is not to be sniffed at and it's not unusual
for a HDTV movie to be between 10 and 15 GB of data. Luckily I've got a
decent broadband connection and a 16x DVD writer to keep me busy!

I would say definitely keep HDTV in mind when buying any new AV kit and try
to make sure it has HDCP enabled component or HDMI connectors to make sure
you're completely future proofed.
